Japanese companies expanding internationally
We support market selection, positioning, partner development, outreach and execution—primarily in the United States, with selected projects across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
New York-based strategy and business development for companies expanding from Japan to the U.S. and selected global markets—and from the world into Japan.
Market entry is not a translation exercise. It is a sequence of decisions.
Which market to prioritize. How the value should be positioned. Who can move the opportunity forward. What should be tested before a company invests more.
HMC works across these decisions—combining market judgment, business development, cultural context and hands-on coordination in one connected process.
We support market selection, positioning, partner development, outreach and execution—primarily in the United States, with selected projects across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
We assess market fit, define the local proposition, identify Japan-side partners and coordinate practical market entry and activation.
Projects outside the U.S. and Japan are developed selectively with project-specific local and international partners.
Each engagement is built around the decision the client needs to make and the action that must follow. Support can begin at any stage and expand as the opportunity becomes clearer.
We assess how a company’s value translates into a specific market—where it fits, how it should be positioned, and what should be tested before further investment.
We identify the buyers, partners and decision-makers who can move an opportunity forward, then develop the path from first contact to meaningful market validation.
HMC coordinates the people, information and market-facing work required to turn strategy into action across organizations and cultures.

A flexible sequence rather than a fixed package. The work starts where the project needs clarity and continues through the next practical action.
Clarify the business, market reality, decision context and source of friction.
Define how the value should be framed, communicated and commercialized.
Identify the right buyers, partners, specialists and local stakeholders.
Coordinate communication, outreach, meetings, activation and the next action.
Founder & Principal — New York
Commercial judgment and cultural context belong in the same conversation.
Hisashi Miyao founded H. MIYAO CORP. in New York in 2003. He has led U.S. operations for Japanese brands across market entry, multi-location retail, e-commerce, branding and marketing.
He later founded BLANC MEDIA and participated in New York, London and Tokyo Fashion Week. Today, his work spans fashion, lifestyle, food, manufacturing, technology, design, architecture and culture-led initiatives.
His approach is to recognize where value already exists, clarify how it can be understood in another market, and build the relationships and actions required to move it forward.
